Mars -M It is the spring of 2020 and Mars Lipps has a date with her colleague, Salvatore Capone, at Bright Solutions. She prepares for the date and Sal arrives to pick her up. Sal takes Mars to an expensive restaurant and shows off his skills as a hexan (ex. conjuration of spirits, making other people's food invisible etc.). They discuss their respective pasts until Mars receives a call from an irrelevant friend and silences it. Sal asks her why she didn't take the call and Mars responds that she's having a better time than she thought, winking. -M It is the winter of 2022 and Mars Capone awakes in her home and finds her husband and newborn son have disappeared. She tries to contact them but his number has been disconnected. -M She waits the night then files a police report but is told by their computer system that the people she's trying to locate don't exist. -M Mars searches the house for the birth certificate but doesn't find it. Instead, she finds a dossier left by her husband which seems to have fallen into the back of the closet. The dossier contains the true identity of her husband; he has been hired by the Dark Sisterhood to sire a child. -M Mars recognises a logo in the dossier as her employers, Bright Solutions, and she stays in after work the next day. -M Remembers her husband's hex for invisibility and uses it on herself, bypassing the security. -M As Mars gets deeper into the facility, she finds things more and more familiar. -M Mars discovers a file archive system in a room labelled "" and accesses her file. There is an application which can select and modify memories. She selects "Restore all memories" and a file is created, which can be run from one of many conveniently placed memory nodes in a nearby drawer labelled "memory nodes". -M Mars restores her memory and a flashback sequence shows her life as a Dark Sisterhood employee, raised by them, tested upon by them, working for them as a top-level scientist privy to their closes secrets and false memory implants when she realised their absurd quest for power. -M Mars, having remembered everything about their plan, rushes to the lab where the AyoDopi Shards and various machinery are stored and steals the shards, intending to take them to the Terrys. Inside this room is a set of test subjects in tubes. One of these is labelled Alex Dark. -M Mars releases Alex and tells him that she intended to go back and aid the Terrys but remembered being in Chapter 2 with Alex in his futuree, meaning that he has to be the one to return to the past. She briefs Alex, explaining that he has to trust her and go back in time to bring the shards to the Dark Helices, to ensure that they don't reveal themselves to her past self and to keep the shards out of the Sisterhood's hands. -M Mars sends Alex back in time and space to Cornwall, 2011. -M Mars is caught by Sal and Sal asks her why she chose Alex out of all the others. Mars says "he seemed familiar", not revealing that she remembered him from the past. Sal nods and replies "They grow up so fast". -M Immediately after Sal is sent into the future, Alex and the Terrys arrive from the ritual. Dark Sisterhood -DS Sal just barely misses Mars as he returns to wipe her memories, which he didn't do previously because the node he received had failed to work and Sal had to get another one. -DS Sal reports back that Mars managed to elude him before he could wipe her memory, and he suspects she's on to him because he found the open dossier. The Sisterhood tells Sal to fix his mess and imply they will kill him if he fails. -DS Sal checks the security footage just in time to see Mars send Alex back to 2011 to rendezvous with Bowler and Trilby. -DS Sal calls in the head security team of the facility to apprehend Mars. -DS Sal is about to kill Mars but he receives a message from the Dark Sisterhood telling him to follow Alex into the past. Sal tells Mars to send him back but she sends him forwards in time instead. -DS Appear in Cornwall, 20 years too late. Terrys -TB Bowler has a dream. He is standing in a silver cornfield, which extends for eternity. Behind him, a creature resembling a "Silent" from Doctor Who offers to be his guide. The cornfield turns golden. The Silent takes him from the cornfield to a small outskirt of Plymouth, Cornwall, near the harbour. The Silent takes Bowler to a rocky beach upon which sits a tomb surrounded by vogel corpses. There is a red chest inside the tomb, from inside which can be obtained the emerald amulet. -TB Bowler discusses his dream with Horsleigh in private. Bowler asks where this dream came from, what it means and what he should do. Horsleigh tells him he isn't allowed to know the answers to those questions. He hadn't questioned it until now, but he doesn't know who has created him or what his purpose is; just that he is compelled to act in a certain way, perform certain specific tasks and beyond that he doesn't know much. He doesn't know who is giving Bowler the dreams, but he suspects it's the same person who created him. -TB Bowler and Horsleigh are both left with something to think about. -TB Bowler initiates a conversation with Trilby who, at this time, is refamiliarising himself with the papers of the vogels, trying to find anything they missed. There is a section regarding some sort of weapon but the pages are lost in time. -TB Bowler asks Trilby what his stance on religion is, having never really seemed to bring it up before now. -TB Trilby is agnostic, leaning toward atheist. He claims he cannot ever know what's out there, so he doesn't see the point in questioning it. Bowler argues that if one doesn't question the world they live in, they cannot learn anything from it; instead they just carry on like one of the bleatcreatures who believe everything they read in the news and ignore the bigger picture. Trilby responds that that wasn't quite his point and that Bowler was too quick to jump down his throat, and they begin a touchy conversation that leaves Trilby too pissed off to concentrate on the book. -TB Both Trilby and Bowler go to apologise but leave it at that. -TB Horsleigh, apparently able to view their conversations, messages Trilby. Horsleigh lies, telling Trilby he has received information about a jewel in an emerald casket, getting the colour wrong; the amulet is emerald, not the casket. Horsleigh also tells him of the "Golden Map" which will lead to the jewel. -TB Trilby gets excited and messages Bowler, telling him he's received information from one of the Tulpas that there may be a way of obtaining a new artifact, though he's not sure what it does. Bowler asks its nature, and Trilby tells him it's some sort of jewel and Bowler gets excited too - too excited to bother asking which Tulpa. -TB Bowler tells Trilby of his dream and they take a day out to find the site of the tomb. -TB They eventually find the place that Bowler remembered, but there is no tomb there. -TB Bowler calls Horsleigh because he can't be bothered to text him. Horsleigh responds using a text to speech recognition service, claiming he doesn't like his voice. Bowler insists on hearing it and Horsleigh just responds with modem noises. Bowler says "Fair enough" and hangs up. -TB Bowler texts Horsleigh telling him that there needs to be a tomb there, to which Horsleigh says there needs to be a video activating the event as it's not exactly the kind of thing "the boss" wants people to stumble across. Plymouth Rock Studios didn't exactly just "come across" their version of the temple, they had to generate it at Plymouth Rock. Bowler doesn't understand the reference. Horsleigh is disappointed. -TB Bowler asks Horsleigh to devise a script to generate the tomb, giving them access to the amulet. Horsleigh responds "Ok but just so you know that's a lot of work to get something that I don't even understand what it does." and Bowler says "That sentence sort of got away from you there didn't it?" "Yes. I'll go do the script. I'm curious enough, anyway." -TB Horsleigh sends Bowler the script via email. -TB Bowler and Trilby create Chapter 4. The tomb appears and they go inside. -TB Bowler and Trilby find their way through the tunnels, references to the Khutan & Peremaya line the walls. A glyph of Boarlaise suggests his purpose is to provide an empty slot to fill for the "Non-dominant Helix" to mirror Horsleigh, listed in the same category as Alter -TB Bowler and Trilby find the red casket and open it, revealing the emerald amulet.
